The Roman Catholic parish church Schrick is located in the village of Schrick in the municipality of Gaweinstal in the Mistelbach district in Lower Austria . It is consecrated to St. Margaret and is located in the dean's office Mistelbach-Pirawarth in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

Location description

The church stands on the church hill in the southeast of the village of Schrick. It is surrounded by a cemetery.

history

Before 1300 a vicariate was founded in Schrick. According to the document, the church was elevated to a parish church in 1661 and incorporated into the Barnabite monastery of Mistelbach . The current church was built between 1688 and 1691 and was damaged in World War II . The war damage was repaired after 1945 and the vault was renewed. In 1960 a renovation took place.

Church exterior

The church is a baroque hall building with a retracted round apse and a two-storey, west tower with a curved pyramid helmet , which is presented to a volute gable facade. The nave is divided by buttresses and arched windows. There are segmental arched windows in the apse. A single-storey baroque sacristy annex adjoins the choir to the south . In front of the south wall of the nave are three baroque tombstones and stone crosses, among others from the years 1742 and 1743. The priest's tombstone dates from 1864.

Church interior

The nave of the church is three-bay and vaulted with a groin . In the easternmost yoke are embroidery caps over belt arches . These rest on pillars with templates. The gallery to the north is vaulted with stab cap barrel. The easternmost yoke has niche-like extensions on both sides. The apse is slightly raised and barrel vaulted . The sacristy and the first floor of the tower are vaulted with groin vaults.

Furnishing

The high altar with a baroque crucifix stands behind a cafeteria. The carving group of the Holy Family with Joachim and Anna in the cafeteria dates from around 1700. The pulpit was created at the end of the 18th century. St. John Nepomuk with putti comes from the first half of the 18th century. The baroque oil painting depicting the "Adoration of the Magi and St. Margaret" was the former high altar painting . The baroque font bears a group of figures depicting the "Baptism of Christ" from the 18th century. A votive picture dates from 1672.

The bell was cast by Johann Josef Pfrenger in 1761 .
