The village of Jeica is located east of the Transylvanian Basin and can be reached six kilometers south of the community center via an unpaved road, the village road (Drum Comunal) DC15.
history
The village was first mentioned in a document in 1332. It was initially populated by Transylvanian Saxons and Hungarians . Almost only Hungarians have lived in the small town since the Second World War.
population
The population of the municipality developed as follows:

With a share of over 95 percent, the village is dominated by Protestants. More than 98 percent of the population speaks Hungarian as their main language, followed by Romanian.
Economy and Infrastructure
In the village itself, internet via cable and telephone via cable is available. At the beginning of March 2016, a mobile radio station specially built for the village was put into operation, which means that telephony with mobile devices is now possible. Due to the lack of physical infrastructure, there is no significant economy. The main field of activity here is agriculture and forestry, with the focus on sheep breeding and pasture management. There is also a small village shop in the village.
Culture
In summer there are the Schelken Culture Days, which always take place on a weekend in August. There is also a village partnership with the Hungarian community of Lajoskomárom with regular exchange. There is also a brass band which has existed since 1879 and plays on various occasions. In the past there was also a partnership with a children's village in Kecskemét, Hungary, which was abandoned.
