Jenner is a settlement in Sonoma County in the US state of California , with around 136 inhabitants ( 2010 census ). The settlement area covers an area of just over six square kilometers and is located directly on the Pacific coast north of San Francisco . The State Route 1 , a road running, runs at Jenner past so there is a convenient transport links.
Despite its small population, the place was particularly popular with tourists because of its quiet location by the sea. In particular, residents of the metropolitan area south of Jenner around San Francisco and Oakland are drawn to the region. The extensive beach, which is separated by rocks, consists mostly of brownish gravel. The coastal area of the region is also a popular destination for windsurfers. In contrast to southern California, where the weather is particularly hot in summer, the climate in this region is more moderate and richer in precipitation, which is particularly true in the winter months. In winter, the thermometer can drop to just above freezing point, especially at night.
The 2010 census showed a total population of 136. Around 91 percent of them are of European descent (i.e. white), which is well above the California average. The proportion of Asians and African-Americans is comparatively very low at less than two percent. Also, Latinos represent only about six percent of the population of the village. The low proportion of Latinos is due in particular to the geographical location of the place in the northern half of California, where significantly fewer people belong to this ethnic group than in the southern part of the state. Due to the tourism in the summer months, the population increases substantially.
