Jennifer O'Loughlin

Jennifer O'Loughlin (born July 15, 1978 in Pittsburgh ) is an American soprano .

Career

She obtained a bachelor's degree in music under Ruth Drucker . She continued her music studies at the Manhattan School of Music , where she earned a master's degree in music under Joan Patenaude-Yarnell. She received a scholarship from the Karajan Foundation for the Zurich Opera studio and shortly thereafter became an ensemble member of the Vienna Volksoper . She has been part of the Gärtnerplatztheater ensemble in Munich since the 2014/15 season. She is currently studying with Mark Markham.

In 2013 she received the Maria Callas Prize and the audience award “Most Popular Actress” for her performance with the mad aria from Lucia di Lammermoor at the awards ceremony of the Paris Opera. She also made her successful debut in the title role in Handel's Semele at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich in 2013 . At this house she also sang Fiordiligi in Così fan tutte and opened the 2015/16 season as Amina in La sonnambula .

Jennifer O'Loughlin has performed in operas and concerts in Europe, America and Japan. As Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Bavarian State Opera, as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Salzburg Festival , as Frau Fluth in Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor at the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, and as Cunegonde in Candide at the Vienna Volksoper, where she was nominated for the Austrian Music Theater Prize 2013 as best female lead actress .

At the Red Ribbon Celebration Concert 2014, Jennifer O'Loughlin performed with artists such as Piotr Beczała , Thomas Hampson , Yusif Eyvazov , Luca Pisaroni , Ildar Abdrazakov and Vesselina Kasarova . The soloists of the gala concert were accompanied by the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra . The following evening, O'Loughlin sang in Apollo and Hyacinth at the opening of the Life Ball on Austrian television.

She worked with the conductors Zubin Mehta , Daniel Harding , Manfred Honeck and James Conlon , for whom she sang in the American premiere of Zemlinsky's May Flowers at the Music Festival in Aspen. Jennifer O'Loughlin has performed in concerts with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra, the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra and at the Salzburg and Bregenz Festivals.

Other roles in operas were Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos and Gilda in Rigoletto at the Vienna Volksoper, Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte at the Vienna State Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Oslo Opera and the Minnesota Opera; Messenger of Peace in Rienzi at the Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse; and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Grand Théâtre de Genéve.

O'Loughlin sang the following recordings: in Acide by Haydn with the Haydn Sinfonietta Vienna (BIS), in Mass von Bernstein with the Tonkünstler Orchester (Chandos) and on DVD in Rienzi at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse (Opus Arte).
