Jens Becker (born April 14, 1963 in Berlin ) is a German screenwriter and director . Since 2004 he has been teaching "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam as a professor for screenplay at the Babelsberg Film University .

Life

From 1986 to 1991 he studied directing at the Konrad Wolf Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam. His diploma film Greenland was submitted for the 1991 Student Oscar. Since 1992 he has been working as a freelance writer and director. In 1993/1994 he received a scholarship from the Akademie der Künste (Berlin) with Wim Wenders .

He writes and directs feature films and makes documentaries. From 1998 to 2000 he taught screenwriting at the Humboldt University in Berlin , and since 2004 he has been professor for screenwriting at the Babelsberg Konrad Wolf Film University . In addition to his film work, he also writes non-fiction books.

In his work DVD Figures and Characters he develops an old type theory, the Enneagram , as a working tool for the creators of characters (authors, actors, directors).

He took part in the Berlinale and film festivals in Montreal , Tokyo , Kraków , Belgrade and Hof, as well as the Prix ​​Europa and the Max-Ophüls-Preis Saarbrücken .

Becker lives in Berlin and was married to the actress Nadja Engel .
