Jens Gerlach (born July 3, 1970 in Beckendorf ) is a former German soccer player .
Athletic career
Club career
He started playing football at BSG Motor Vorwärts Oschersleben in 1976 . At the age of 12 he switched to the youth division of 1. FC Magdeburg and from 1988 played a total of 50 games in the GDR league for the Elbestädter. After 1. FC Magdeburg missed qualifying for the 2. Bundesliga in 1991 , the 1.73-meter-tall midfielder, who is called by friends and teammates Gerle , moved to FC Carl Zeiss Jena .
He played with the Thuringians in the 2nd Bundesliga for three years. After relegation in 1994, direct resurgence was achieved in the following year. Nevertheless, Gerlach left the club in 1995 and moved to SV Waldhof Mannheim . After two years in Mannheim he returned to Jena and played one more season in Jena in the 1997/1998 season. After relegation in 1998 he went to 1. FC Saarbrücken and after two years he moved within the Saarland to SV Elversberg , to which he remained loyal for five years. At the end of his career he played from 2005 to 2013 at VfB Dillingen in the Saarland League .
Selection bets
In 1990 the man from Magdeburg was in action for two selection teams. In the summer of that year he traveled to the United States with the GDR Olympic team and after reunification he played half-time for the U-21s of the DFB in a friendly against Switzerland in December .
