Jens Krause (behavioral scientist)

Jens Krause (* 1965 in Berlin ) is a German behavioral biologist who is primarily concerned with research into swarm intelligence .

Life

Jens Krause studied from 1985 to 1990 at the Free University of Berlin and graduated with a diploma ; In 1989 he also obtained an M.Phil. at Queens' College of the University of Cambridge . He received his Ph.D. in 1993 from St John's College, University of Cambridge. PhD . He was then a post-doctoral student of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) at Mount Allison University until 1995, a post-doctoral student of BASF at Princeton University in 1995/1996 and at the University of Leeds in 1996/1997 . At the University of Leeds he was Lecturer until 2002 and Senior Lecturer and Reader in Behavioral Ecology until 2004 . In 2004 he was appointed professor at this university . Since 2009 he has been Professor of Fish Ecology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He heads the Department of Fish Biology and Ecology at the Leibniz Institute for Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB). In 2014 he was elected as a full member of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences .

Jens Krause has published over 100 papers in scientific journals. He is an associate editor of the journal Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology and a member of the editorial board of the journal Fish and Fisheries . He worked on several television productions for ARD , ZDF and the Discovery Channel .

Jens Krause lives in Berlin-Charlottenburg .
