Jens Wissing (born January 2, 1988 in Gronau ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Jens Wissing began his career in the youth department of SG Gronau , where he played until 2001. He then moved to the C-youth team of FC Schalke 04 , where he stayed until 2004. This was followed by a move to Preußen Münster . There he played in the B and A youth teams until 2007, before coach Roger Schmidt brought him to the first team for the 2007/08 season . With his team, Wissing qualified for the Regionalliga West in 2008 and won the Westphalia Cup in 2008, 2009 and 2010 . In addition to his regional league games, Wissing played in the first main round of the DFB Cup in 2008 against VfL Bochum and in 2009 against Hertha BSC .

He was named Sportsman of the Year by the Sports Association of the City of Münster at the Ball des Sports 2009.

On February 18, 2010, Borussia Mönchengladbach announced that they would sign Wissing for the 2010/11 season. On October 17, 2010, he made his Bundesliga debut in the 3-2 defeat against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim .

After just one year, in which Wissing only made three appearances in the Bundesliga and nine games in the Regionalliga West and played one game in the DFB Cup, SC Paderborn 07 signed the left-back. Wissing signed a two-year contract with Ostwestfalen until June 30, 2013 and was given the shirt number 30.

For the 2013/14 season Wissing moved to the 3rd division for MSV Duisburg . Wissing ended his active career in January 2014 due to the consequences of a serious ankle injury, he had not played a game for the zebras.

In addition to his active career, Wissing completed an apprenticeship as a sports specialist (IHK).

In July 2014 he joined the Westphalian league club 1. FC Gievenbeck and took over the post of assistant coach. For the 2019/2020 season, he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach's second team as assistant coach .

In 2015 Wissing founded the startup company FiveHomeFitness GmbH in Münster, which develops customer-specific fitness and health training from individual support to corporate health promotion.
