Jeremias Friedrich Reuss
Jeremias Friedrich Reuss (born December 8, 1700 in Horrheim in Württemberg , † March 6, 1777 in Tübingen ) was a German theologian. He was the father of the classical philologist and librarian Jeremias David Reuss .
Reuss was a student of Johann Albrecht Bengel at Denkendorf Monastery and then studied in Tübingen, where he read the writings of newer Catholic mystics and was still in contact with Bengel. On a recommendation from Nikolaus Ludwig von Zinzendorf , he became court preacher to the Danish King Christian VI in 1732 . and professor of theology in Copenhagen . In 1739/40 and 1748/49 he was the rector of the university.
On February 24, 1749 he was appointed general superintendent of the duchies of Schleswig and Holstein and senior consistorial councilor, and moved to Rendsburg . In 1757 he became professor ( Professor theologiae primarius ) at the University of Tübingen , at the same time Chancellor of the university, provost of the collegiate church of Tübingen and titular abbot of the Lorch monastery .
