Jerzy Wenderlich
Jerzy Jan Wenderlich (born April 22, 1954 in Toruń ) is a Polish politician . He was from 1993 to 2015 deputy in the Sejm (II., III., IV., V., VI . And VII. Term) and was from July 2010-2015 one of the Deputy Marshals (vice-president) of the Sejm.
He graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of Kazimir the Great University of Bydgoszcz . He completed a postgraduate course in journalism and political science at the University of Warsaw . In 1980 he joined the Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza (Polish United Workers' Party - PZPR). He worked as a journalist and was editor-in-chief of the student newspaper Meritum . He also headed the Bydgoszcz part of Kurier Studencki and was a journalist for Gazeta Pomorska and editor-in-chief of Tygodnik Telewizyjny . In 1993, 1997, 2001 and 2005 he became a member of the Sejm for the Sojusz Lewicy Demokratycznej (Federation of the Democratic Left - SLD). Among other things, he was the party's press spokesman. Wenderlich wrote the book Jak zostać ministrem? (How do you become a minister?).
In the parliamentary elections in 2007 he was elected for the sixth time for the constituency of Thorn with 11,825 votes, this time on the list Lewica i Demokraci (Left and Democrats - LiD). He is Deputy Chairman of the Sejm Commission for Culture.
Since April 22, 2008 he was a member of the newly founded Lewica parliamentary group and, after its dissolution in 2010, the SLD parliamentary group. After Radosław Sikorski's resignation as Sejm Marshal on June 23, 2015, Wenderlich temporarily took over his office as the oldest deputy. On June 25, 2015 he ran for the SLD for the office of Sejm Marshal, but was defeated by the candidate of the civil platform Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska . In November of that year he left the Sejm because the SLD's electoral alliance failed in the 2015 parliamentary elections because of the 8 percent hurdle.
