reception

Jesus Piece reached number 6 on the US Billboard 200 . Overall, the release was able to stay in the album charts of the United States for 15 weeks. In Canada, the album was ranked 16th in the charts. At number 76, Jesus Piece also entered the UK charts.

criticism

The e-zine Laut.de rated Jesus Piece with three out of a possible five points. From the point of view of the editor Dani Fromm, one of the “most impressive skills ” of The Games is “to adapt to the style and flow of its feature guests. “In the case of Jesus Piece , he invited 20 guest rappers and singers for twelve songs, so that“ The Game itself hardly sticks ”. Heaven's Arms is the only contribution that he makes “ only flanked by a bit of female background vocals and powerful bass from the forge by Cool & Dre ”. In terms of content, however, it does not give much, although it is “ like his endless name dropping, a well-known The Game problem ”. Nevertheless, Jesus Piece shows " over long distances a solid rapper who does not develop a profile of his own, but creates and transports quite different moods ". The rappers Common, Meek Mill and Kendrick Lamar as well as the singer Elijah Blake are praised by the guest musicians. In contrast, Dani Fromm finds criticism for the contributions by Kanye West and Chris Brown.
