Evgeni Evgenjewitsch Flint ( Russian Евгений Евгеньевич Флинт ; * 7 September July / 19 September  1887 greg. In Moscow ; † November 10, 1975 ibid) was a Russian crystallographer and university professor .

Life

Flint studied at the physico - mathematical faculty of Moscow University (MGU) with final 1916th

After the October Revolution , Flint was Professor 1925–1930 at the Chair of Crystallography at MGU and then Professor at the Chair of Mineralogy and Crystallography at the Moscow Institute for Geological Exploration (MGRI, now Russian State Ordzhonikidze University of Geology ) until he retired in 1962 . In addition, he worked from 1938 in the laboratory for crystallography of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN-SSSR, since 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)), which in 1943 became the Institute for Crystallography of the AN-SSSR with Alexei Vasilyevich Schubnikow as director.

The focus of Flint's scientific work was the determination of the crystal structures and lattice parameters of crystals and the corresponding measurement methods. With the results he created a catalog with almost 1000 pyro and piezo crystals . In 1939 the foundations of crystallography by Georgi Borissowitsch Boki , Schubnikow and Flint appeared, which became the handbook of crystallographers. In 1948 Flint received his doctorate in geological-mineralogical sciences .

Flint's son was the zoologist Vladimir Evgenyevich Flint (1924-2004).

Flint's grave is in Moscow's Donskoy Cemetery .
