action

Neeladevi, a dancer, is dancing in front of the professional dancer Mangal Maharaj and his son and disciple Girdhar. But Mangal is very dissatisfied with Neela's dance style. He makes Girdhar dance and Neela feels the deep meaning of this art and asks Mangal to teach it. Even the tough training doesn't deter Neela.

When Neela and Girdhar begin training for the renowned Nateshwar Utsav dance competition , which only takes place every ten years, they fall in love. Thereupon Mangal Maharaj gets angry and is in every way against emotional feelings between the two dancers, because they should concentrate on the art of dancing and only surrender to it.

So Neela withdraws from Girdhar's life and makes her dance teacher hate her. She even went as far as killing herself, but survived. Neela gives up everything so that Girdhar is left to his own devices in his art.

Now Girdhar needs a dance partner and so he and his father decide for Roopkala, a dancer who was trained by Mangal, but who has shown his art poorly.

Manilal, an admirer of Neela, blames Girdhar for Neela's contemptuous rejection of him. So he takes away Girdhar's last dance partner, Roopkala, who refused to dance.

Girdhar is now on the verge of disqualification without a dance partner until Neela appears for the dance competition and performs the Shiv - Parvati dance with him . Mangal lets himself be softened when he realizes the hardship Neela was inferior. Finally he brings the two lovers back together.
