Jim Lea (athlete)
Jim Lea (actually James Gilbert Lea, Jr .; born November 6, 1932 in Little Rock , † March 27, 2010 in San José , California ) was an American sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .
In 1955 he won silver over 400 m and gold in the 4-by-400-meter relay at the Pan American Games in Mexico City .
At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he reached the quarter-finals in the individual competition.
In 1954 he became US champion over 440 yards . In 1953 and 1954 he won the NCAA title for the University of Southern California , starting over the same distance .
