James Edward "Jim" McWithey (born July 4, 1927 in Grammer , † February 1, 2009 in Gainesville ) was an American racing driver .

Career

Jim McWithey started twice in his career at the Indianapolis 500 , which was classified as the Formula 1 World Championship race from 1950 to 1960 . At his first start in 1959 he reached 16th place on a Kurtis Kraft 500C- Offenhauser in the same lap as the winner Rodger Ward . 1960, again in Indianapolis, this time on an Epperly -Offenhauser, he retired on the 60th lap due to a brake defect.
