Jim Tolson , actually James Tolson , (born May 26, 1965 in Ballingry ) is a Scottish politician and member of the Liberal Democrats .

Life

Tolson was born in 1965 to a miner in Ballingry, a small town in Fife, Scotland . He worked in the Rosyth shipyard for a long time . In 1996 he married his wife Alison.

Political career

Tolson was a Dunfermline County Councilor for 15 years . In the Scottish parliamentary elections in 2003 he ran for the Liberal Democrats in the constituency of Dunfermline West , but could only book the fourth-highest percentage of votes for itself. Since he was on the regional electoral list for Mid Scotland and Fife only on the hopeless ninth place, Tolson missed the entry into the Scottish Parliament .

In the 2007 general election , Tolson was able to win around 500 votes more than the Labor Party holder Scott Barrie and finally moved into parliament. In the course of constituency reform in 2011, the constituency of Dunfermline West was dissolved. In the 2011 general election , Tolson ran for the newly created constituency of Dunfermline , but was clearly defeated by Bill Walker of the SNP and the Labor Party candidate.
