Jimmy Ruffin
Jimmy Ruffin (born May 7, 1936 in Meridian , Mississippi , † November 17, 2014 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was an American soul singer .
life and career
Jimmy Ruffin was the brother of David Ruffin , the former lead singer of the soul formation The Temptations . With his help he got his first record deal in the early 1960s and released his first single in 1961 . In 1966 he had his first million seller with What Becomes of the Broken Hearted . His second international hit came in 1980 with the song Hold on to My Love written by Robin Gibb .
In 1986 Ruffin recorded an EP with the British electro-pop band Heaven 17 and sang the pieces A Foolish Thing to Do and My Sensitivity .
He later re-released his hit What Becomes of the Broken Hearted several times. a. In the late 1980s in a duet with Ruby Turner . There is also an Italian version of him called Se decidi so .
The song was u. a. by David L. Stewart (with Colin Blunstone , 1981), Boy George (1988), Paul Young (1992), Steve Harley (1996), Joe Cocker (1998), Jive Bunny & the Mastermixers (2000), Smokie (2001) , Joan Osborne (2002), Blue Lagoon (2006) and Alphonso Williams (2017) covered .
