Career

Jimmy Schuldt was born in Minnetonka and played there in his youth for the local high school ice hockey team . Towards the end of the 2012/13 season he moved to the Omaha Lancers in the United States Hockey League (USHL), the highest-ranking junior league in the United States. In the 2014/15 season, the defender recorded 39 points in 59 games for the Lancers and was consequently appointed to the USHL Third All-Star Team . The following fall, he enrolled at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, and from then on ran for their team, the Huskies , in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC), a league played by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) .

As a freshman , Schuldt won the NCHC championship with the Huskies, while he was personally elected to the NCHC All-Rookie Team after 26 points from 41 games . As a sophomore , he already took over the office of team captain in St. Cloud and increased his statistics for the 2017/18 season significantly to 38 points from 40 games, so that he just missed an average of 1.0 points per game. Subsequently, he was considered on the NCHC First All-Star Team and was one of ten finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award , which honors the best college player in the country. The defender received both honors again the following year, while he was also named NCHC Player of the Year. In the election for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award in 2019, he found himself among the three players of the final elimination together with Cale Makar and Adam Fox , but the trophy ultimately went to Makar.

After the end of his fourth and final college season, Schuldt signed an entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL) in April 2019 . He had not previously been considered in an NHL Entry Draft . Just two days later, the American made his NHL debut in the game against the Los Angeles Kings and recorded his first assist, although it should remain in this one use in the further course of the season.
