The Jinzū ( Jap. 神通川 , flows through Tokyo ) is a flux of the Gifu Prefecture in Toyama prefecture in Japan flows.
He is also called Miyagawa ( 宮 川 ) in Gifu . It is 120 km long and has a catchment area of 2720 km².
The source of the river is on Mount Kaore in Gifu, on the border of Gifu and Toyama it flows together with the Takahara . Then it flows in a straight line north and pours into Toyama Bay in the Sea of Japan .
Once its course meandered through the city of Toyama , but it was later moved to a new bed west of the city to prevent flooding. Toyama City Hall and other public buildings stand on the former river bed.
The river was contaminated with cadmium through mining until 1950 , causing massive episodes of poisoning, known as Itai-Itai disease , to appear in the towns on the lower reaches .
The Imperial Japanese Navy had a cruiser called the Jintsu .
