João Batista Portocarrero Costa

João Batista Portocarrero Costa (born June 7, 1904 in Vitória de Santo Antão , Pernambuco , Brazil ; † January 6, 1959 ) was a Brazilian Roman Catholic clergyman and coadjutor archbishop of Olinda e Recif .

Life

João Batista Costa Portocarrero received on 30 October 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on July 31, 1943 Bishop of Mossoró . The Archbishop of Olinda e Recife , Miguel de Lima Valverde , donated him episcopal ordination on November 7th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Adalberto Accioli Sobral , Bishop of Pesqueira , and Mário de Miranda Vilas-Boas , Bishop of Garanhuns .

On July 3, 1953, the Pope appointed him coadjutor archbishop of Olinda e Recife and titular archbishop of Selge .
