João Nílton dos Santos Souza

João Nílton dos Santos Souza (born September 2, 1943 in Amargosa , Bahia , Brazil ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and emeritus bishop of Amargosa .

Life

João Nílton dos Santos Souza received on 20 December 1969, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On 4 August 1986 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To Coadjutor Bishop of Bom Jesus da Lapa . The Bishop of Amargosa, Alair Vilar Fernandes de Melo , gave him episcopal consecration on November 9th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the bishop emeritus of Amargosa, Floréncio Cicinho Vieira , and the bishop of Bom Jesus da Lapa, José Nicomedes Grossi . On August 31, 1988, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Amargosa. The inauguration took place on October 30 of the same year.

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on June 10, 2015.
