The diocese Amargosa ( Latin Dioecesis Amargosensis , Portuguese Diocese de Amargosa ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Amargosa in the state of Bahia .

history

The diocese Amargosa was on May 10, 1941 by Pope Pius XII. Erected from territory ceded by the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On July 27, 1957, the Diocese of Amargosa gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Vitória da Conquista . Another assignment of territory took place on November 7, 1978 to establish the Diocese of Jequié .
