Jože Dežman

Jože Dežman (born September 26, 1955 in Lesce ) is a Slovenian historian . He is currently the director of the Museum of Modern History of Slovenia in Ljubljana .

Jože Dežman, nephew of the Yugoslav partisan and army general Anton Dežman ("Tonček"), studied history at the University of Ljubljana . After Slovenia's independence, he was active in the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia , which he left again.

In 2005 he was entrusted by the conservative government under Janez Janša with the management of the newly established commission for hidden mass graves , which was not continued after the change of government in 2008. He was director of the Museum of Modern History of Slovenia in Ljubljana and is currently director of the Archives of Slovenia.

Dežman's activities include research into the mass grave in the Barbara tunnel at Huda Jama near Laško and the mass grave near Brežice .
