Jože Prelogar (born March 5, 1959 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian football coach and former football player .

Career

The so far relatively unknown in Austria Prelogar was surprisingly appointed in December 2009 to succeed Frenkie Schinkels as the new coach of the Austrian Bundesliga club SK Austria Kärnten . Most recently he was in charge of the Slovenian third division club NK Radomlje. Other coaching stations were assistant coaches for the Slovenian national team (2004 to 2007), before he was appointed to the coaching staff of the A-team, he worked for the Slovenian association between 2002 and 2004 as coach of the Slovenian U17 and U18 teams. His connection to Austria, i.e. to the federal state of Carinthia, results from his commitment to Austria Klagenfurt from 1987 to 1992. He was also a player in two other (lower-class) Carinthian clubs: ATSV Wolfsberg (1995/96) and ASK Klagenfurt (1996 / 97).

Prelogar received a contract with Austria Kärnten until the end of the season, which is automatically extended in the event of relegation. However, Prelogar could not prevent the Klagenfurters' descent. Since the club had to file for bankruptcy after the end of the season, Prelogar was unemployed. On June 15, 2013 Prelogar was introduced as the new trainer of SK Austria Klagenfurt . There he received a two-year contract. However, they separated already over the winter, from the beginning of the 2014/15 season he became a coach at SAK Celovec / Klagenfurt, also playing in the Middle Regional League, where he was replaced by Goran Jolic after September 19 (after a 2-0 defeat at Wallern) was replaced. From April 19, 2015 he was responsible for the first time as a coach of the amateur team of the SAK Celovec / Klagenfurt (in the "lower play-off" of 1st class D). On May 30th, 2015 he coached the relegation-threatened team of SV Blau-Weiß Sachsenburg in the Carinthian regional league, where his debut began with a 0: 1 against the top team from Köttmannsdorf. His mission at BW Sachsenburg was not crowned with success, the team was relegated. From 2015/16 he will be named as the trainer of SG Drautal in the Lower League West.

Prelogar is regarded as a tough coach who demands tactical discipline and readiness to fight from his team and solidarity among players, officials, supervisors and supporters.

successes

As a player, he was Slovenian champion and top scorer four times.
