Jožef Smej
Jožef Smej (born February 15, 1922 in Bogojina , Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ) is auxiliary bishop emeritus in Maribor .
Life
Jožef Smej was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Maribor on December 8, 1944 . On April 15, 1983, he was appointed auxiliary bishop in Maribor and titular bishop of Tzernicus . The Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Yugoslavia , Michele Cecchini , consecrated him on May 23 of the same year as bishop; Co- consecrators were Franc Kramberger , Bishop of Maribor, and Alojzij Šuštar , Archbishop of Ljubljana .
On June 18, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. Jožef Smej's request to resign from the office of auxiliary bishop in Maribor for reasons of age.
