Joachim Eigenherr

Joachim "Jochen" Eigenherr (born February 18, 1947 in Bevensen ) is a former German athlete and Olympic participant.

Eigenherr competed in ten country matches for the Federal Republic of Germany from 1966 to 1970. He started his career at TG Höchst and moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 1968 . After taking third place behind Armin Baumert and Hermann Latzel in the long jump at the 1966 German indoor championships , he also took part in the 1966 European Indoor Games in Dortmund. Behind the Soviet jumper Igor Ter-Owanesjan and Armin Baumert Eigenherr took third place with 7.63 m. In the 1966 open-air season Eigenherr won three medals at the European Junior Games in Odessa : he won the 200-meter run in 21.9 seconds and received silver in the 100-meter run and the 4-by-100-meter relay .

In 1967 Eigenherr took third place over 200 meters at the BRD championships, in 1968 he was second behind Martin Jellinghaus . At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, he ran a European record in the semifinals in 20.4 s, 20.49 s according to electronic timekeeping, and thus surprisingly qualified for the final, in which he finished eighth in 20.6 s. He also reached the Olympic final with the sprint relay; in the line-up of Karl-Peter Schmidtke , Gerhard Wucherer , Gert Metz and Eigenherr, the squadron took sixth place in 38.6 seconds. In 1969 and 1970 Eigenherr won the BRD championships in the 200-meter run, and in 1970 he achieved another championship title with the Leverkusen sprint relay.

Eigenherr had a competition weight of 74 kg with a height of 1.83 m. Since the Olympic Games in 1968 he was in a relationship with the pentathlete Manon Bornholdt , whom he later married, their daughter Cornelia took part in the triple jump at the Junior World Championships in 1994. Owner is a doctor of dentistry.
