Joachim Florent

Joachim Florent (* 1979 in Brussels ) is a Belgian jazz musician ( double bass ) and physicist .

Life

Florent first studied material physics at the Institut national des sciences appliquées de Lyon and classical double bass at the École Nationale de Musique, Danse et Art Dramatique in Villeurbanne , then jazz at the CNSM Paris . Since 2009 he has worked as a bassist in the groups Jean Louis, Metalophone, Imperial Quartet and Radiation10 , with whom he also released albums. In recent years he has also given an increasing number of solo concerts, for example at the Europa Jazz Festival in 2012 , and released the solo album Out of Science (2014). In the group Extradiversion he plays with Anna-Lena Schnabel , Florian Weber and Edward Perraud . He can also be heard on albums by Fidel Fourneyron, Clément Janinet and Marc Ducret .

In 2007, Florent won first prize as an instrumentalist at the La Défense jazz competition and later also first prizes with an ensemble with Radiation10 and Jean Louis .
