Joachim Göbel

Joachim Göbel (* 1958 in Witten ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and provost of the Metropolitan Chapter at the High Cathedral in Paderborn , the bishop's church of the Archdiocese of Paderborn .

Life

After studying theology and philosophy, he was ordained a priest in Paderborn in 1985. He worked as vicar in Büren (1985–1988) and in Meschede (1988–1991). From 1991 to 1995 he completed a teaching degree in Paderborn, which he completed in 1996 with the second state examination. Meanwhile he worked in Geseke . During this time he was the diocesan chaplain of the Catholic student youth in the Archdiocese of Paderborn. After completing his legal traineeship in Hamm, he started teaching at Mallinckrodt-Gymnasium Dortmund in 1996 . In addition, he worked as a subsidiar in Dorstfeld (1996–2000) and Hörde (2000–2008). Since 2008 he has been head of the school and education department in the Vicariate General in Paderborn . On May 15, 2014, he was elected Provost of the Cathedral by the Metropolitan Chapter, succeeding Manfred Grothe , confirmed by Archbishop Hans-Josef Becker , and introduced on June 12, 2014.
