Joachim Harms

Joachim Harms (born March 21, 1932 in Schwerin ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Harms was born in Schwerin and worked in agriculture and construction. From 1951 to 1953 he studied at the Hamburg University of Economics and Politics . He then worked as a union employee and from 1956 headed the legal department of the German Trade Union Confederation in Elmshorn . In 1962 he was elected to the district council of the Pinneberg district, to which he belonged until 1971, of which 1970/1971 as deputy district administrator . From 1966 to 1974 he was a member of the Magistrate in Elmshorn as well as an honorary department head for youth and social affairs.

In April 1971 Harms was the SPD land list in the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein selected. In 1975 and 1979 he entered the state parliament again via the state list. In the election for the 10th electoral term on March 13, 1983 , he won the direct mandate in the Elmshorn electoral district. He was a member of various committees, including the Social Committee. He was also a member of the judges' selection committee . In 1987 Harms left the state parliament.
