Joachim Suerbaum

Joachim Suerbaum (* 1965 in Münster ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg .

Life

Suerbaum studied law and English at the University of Bochum . After his first state examination in law, he worked there as a research assistant. After the subsequent legal clerkship and the second state examination in North Rhine-Westphalia , Suerbaum was awarded a doctorate in 1997 at the University of Bochum. iur. PhD. He then worked as a research assistant to Rolf Grawert in Bochum, where Suerbaum completed his habilitation in 2002 with the previously unpublished paper on state supervision under the Basic Law and was awarded the Venia legendi for the subjects of public law, including European law.

After two guest lectureships in Hungary in 2002 and 2004, Suerbaum accepted a position at the University of Würzburg in 2004 , where he has held the chair for public law, in particular administrative law, ever since. Since 1991 he has also been a part-time lecturer at the Administration and Business Academy Westphalia-Ruhr. He is also a member of the Association of German Constitutional Law Teachers , the Federal Association of German Foundations and the Bavarian State Committee for Foundations.
