Joachim Ulrich von Wopersnow

Joachim Ulrich von Wopersnow (* October 1715 ; † May 6, 1782 in Rödemis ) was a Danish major general .

Life

Origin and family

He came from the Pomeranian noble family von Wopersnow and was a son of Jürgen Ulrich von Wopersnow († after 1717) and Leoni Barbara von Bühren († after 1726). The Prussian major general Gabriel von Rosenschanz (1737–1807) was his nephew, the mayor of Grevesmühlen , Johann Reinhold Schnitzebäume († after 1751) was his brother-in-law. With his housekeeper, Anna Björnsdatter, he had a natural daughter Ulrica who died young .

Career

In 1733, Wopersnow acquired his father's estate, Dämelow , which he resold to Joachim Albrecht von Sperling in 1739, against which the von Pressentin complained. From 1747 he entered the property inheritance litigation at the Reich Chamber of Commerce , which his family contested with the von Sperling and the latter finally won.

In 1734 he joined the Danish military as a cornet . He was promoted to Rittmeister in 1740 , was already lieutenant colonel in Husum in 1747 , rose to colonel in 1759 and finally became major general of the cavalry . Wopersnow received Danish indigenous status in 1776 and retired in 1782.

He spent his old age in Mildstedt in Holstein . On May 13, 1782 he was buried in the local St. Lamberti Church. The grave is no longer preserved. With his passing, the male line of his family died out .
