Joakim Eriksson (born June 22, 1976 in Södertälje ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and current manager, who has been under contract as sports director at Djurgårdens IF since 2015 . Eriksson was active during his active career for many years in the Svenska Hockeyligan (formerly Elitserien) for the Södertälje SK , Djurgårdens IF and in the SM-liiga for the Espoo Blues and Helsingfors IFK .

Career

Eriksson began his career in 1993 at Södertälje SK , where he was initially used in the youth team. In 1996 he was appointed to the professional squad of the club and the center played until 1999 for the Swedes in the Elitserien and the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan . After he had become second division champion, but did not reach promotion, the left shooter moved to Djurgårdens IF , with whom he was able to achieve his greatest successes to date with two Swedish championships .

After these successful years, Eriksson returned to his hometown club in Södertälje and completed two seasons there. Due to good performance in the club and a surprising fourth place in the league, the Espoo Blues from the Finnish SM-liiga signed the center forward. There he stayed only one season and moved back to Sweden for the 2006/07 season to Linköpings HC , for which he completed four seasons. With Linköping, whose team captain is Eriksson, he was Swedish runner-up in 2007 and 2008. In April 2010 he signed a three-year contract with an option for another year with his hometown club Södertälje SK. The 2011/12 season began Eriksson at his former club Linköpings HC, with whom he also in the pre-season at the European Trophy participated before joining end of September 2011 to his former club Espoo Blues in Finland.

In 2013 he returned to Djurgårdens IF, with whom he was promoted to Svenska Hockeyligan in 2014 . He ended his career after the 2014/15 season and has been sporting director at Djurgårdens since the 2015/16 season .
