João Carlos Batista Pinheiro (born January 13, 1932 in Campos dos Goytacazes , † August 30, 2011 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a Brazilian football player . He mainly played for the Fluminense Rio de Janeiro club and for the Brazilian national team .

Career

After a short time with Americano FC (RJ) , Pinheiro moved to Fluminense Rio de Janeiro in 1948 , where he spent most of his career. There he quickly became a regular and won the 1951 state championship in Rio de Janeiro . A year later he won the Copa Rio . After he was able to win the Torneio Rio-São Paulo with his team in 1957 , he won the State Championship of Rio de Janeiro again in 1959. A year later he was again successful at the Torneio Rio-São Paulo. With the national team he won the Pan American Football Championship in 1952 and took part in the 1954 World Cup.

After the end of his playing career, he was also active as a coach. He led the Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte to the Cup in 1993 .
