Jochen Wiedemann (born December 22, 1952 in Essen ) is a German engineer and university professor specializing in automotive engineering .

Life

Wiedemann attended the Clemens-Brentano-Gymnasium in Dülmen / Westphalia , where he passed the matriculation examination in 1972. He then studied general mechanical engineering at the Ruhr University in Bochum . After graduating in 1977, he first attended a diploma course at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Mechanics (VKI) in Rhode-Staint-Genèse , Belgium . He then returned to the Ruhr University and worked there from 1978 to 1983 at the Institute for Thermo- and Fluid Dynamics. In 1983 he did his doctorate under Klaus Gersten on the "Influence of blowing out and suction on permeable walls on currents with large Reynolds numbers ".

From 1984 to 1998 he worked in the field of vehicle aerodynamics , aeroacoustics and aeroelastics at Audi AG in Ingolstadt , since 1991 as a specialist group leader and since 1995 as a member of management. In addition, he was the project manager for the planning, construction and commissioning of the Audi wind tunnel center, which was completed in the late 1990s.

In 1998 he succeeded Ulf Essers as a full professor of automotive engineering and managing director of the Institute for Internal Combustion Engines and Automotive Engineering (IVK) at the University of Stuttgart . With the assumption of this office, the board of directors for automotive engineering of the Research Institute for Automotive Engineering and Vehicle Engines Stuttgart (FKFS) was connected. Wiedemann has been retired since April 2019. His successor at FKFS and IVK is Andreas Wagner.
