Jodi-Ann Robinson (born April 17, 1989 in Saint Ann's Bay , Jamaica ) is a Canadian former soccer player .
Career
society
Robinson began playing football at Robert Cecil Palmer Secondary School in Richmond , but also played basketball , volleyball and athletics . From 2005 to 2010 she played for the Vancouver Whitecaps in the W-League , which she won in 2006. In the 2013 season she played in the newly founded National Women's Soccer League , the highest American professional league in women's football, for Western New York Flash . In 2014 she moved to the Swedish second division club Kvarnsvedens IK before joining the Norwegian first division club Røa IL for the following season .
National team
Robinson ran through the Canadian youth national teams and played a total of 32 times for the U-19/20 teams. With the U-19 team, she won the 2004 CONCACAF U-20 championship for women and took part in the 2004 U-19 World Cup for women . In 2006 she won the silver medal at the CONCACAF U-20 Women's Championship in 2006 , qualifying for the U-20 Women's World Cup in 2006 , from which Canada was eliminated in the preliminary round. In 2008 she won the CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship with Canada in 2008 .
She made her first international match on April 21, 2005 - shortly after her 16th birthday - in a 3-1 draw against Germany , but continued to play for the youth teams. With the Canadian national soccer team , she was eliminated from the 2007 soccer World Cup as third in the preliminary round. She was the youngest player in the Canadian squad. At the 2008 Summer Olympics , she and her team made it to the quarter-finals. There they lost 2-1 in extra time against eventual tournament winners United States .
In 2010 she won the Cyprus Cup with Canada , but was not used in the 2010 CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup . In 2011 she was able to repeat winning the Cyprus Cup and was appointed to the Canadian squad for the World Cup. But she only played a six-minute game in the last group game against Nigeria.
