Joe Barzda

Joseph J. "Joe" Barzda (born May 22, 1915 in New Brunswick , New Jersey , † October 11, 1993 in Somerset , New Jersey) was an American racing driver .

Career

Barzda started in ten races in the USAC series in 1958 and 1959 and was able to achieve the best result two fourth places in 1958 in Springfield and Trenton . He drove a Nichels - Offenhauser at a time . In the years 1951–1953 he had previously tried in vain to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 . Most of the time he had his own team and a Maserati chassis.

After a racing accident in which Van Johnson was killed, he ended his career to run a business with tuning and racing parts together with his brother Eddie .
