Joe Bizera , full name Joe Emerson Bizera Bastos , (born May 17, 1980 in Artigas ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

Joe Bizera began his career in 1999 at Peñarol Montevideo , where he has been in the Primera División since the Apertura in 1999 . He played there until 2005. Twice, in 1999 and 2003, he won the Uruguayan championship with Peñarol . From the 2005/06 season to the 2007/08 season he was in the ranks of the Italian Serie A club Cagliari Calcio , for which he completed a total of 35 games (no goal). This was followed by 16 appearances (two goals) for Maccabi Tel Aviv in the 2007/08 season. From the 2008/09 season, Bizera was signed by the Greek first division club PAOK Thessaloniki . Ten matches played without scoring in the top Greek league are recorded for Bizera until the 2009/10 season, in which he then joined Albacete Balompié (seven games, no goal). He spent the following round in Israel again, now in the ranks of Maccabi Petach Tikwa , where he scored a total of one goal in 30 games. His next career move included a return to Uruguay. There he joined Bella Vista in October 2011 . In January 2012, after two games in the Primera División , he left Montevideo again and moved to Paraguay at Club Libertad, which was coached by Jorge Burruchaga . There the defender was used in 25 first division games (one goal) and also played in four Copa Libertadores matches . He then joined the Mexican club Atlante in January 2013 . He made his debut in the Primera División there on January 27, 2013 in the match on the 4th match day of the Clausura 2013 against Jaguares . For the club he played two games in the Copa Mexico (as of April 10, 2013) and 13 matches (one goal) in the Clausura 2013. On July 8, 2013 it was announced that Bizera is leaving the Mexicans with immediate effect. In the 2013/14 season he is again under contract with Peñarol . In the 2013/14 season he was there in twelve league games (no goal) on the field. He was also used in three games of the Copa Libertadores 2014 . In the 2014/15 season he played six first division games (no goal). In addition, there are no appearances with the "Aurinegros". In March 2016 he joined the first division club Villa Teresa . After playing five league games (no goal) there, but relegated his team at the end of the season, he moved to Liverpool Montevideo in early July 2016 .

National team

From July 13, 2001 to October 9, 2004, Bizera completed 23 international matches (one goal) in the Uruguayan national soccer team . He was a member of the 2001 Copa America squad. There he played five games in the tournament, scored one goal and was sent off in the encounter with Honduras . At the Soccer World Cup in 2002 he was in the squad, but was not used. He also took part in the 2004 Copa America with Uruguay . There he was used in five encounters and was sent off in the preliminary round game against Argentina. Uruguay finished third in the tournament. Bizera was last used at the end of 2004.
