NFL
Draft
Joe Mixon was drafted 48th in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. This made him the fourth running back to be drafted in 2017, only Leonard Fournette , Christian McCaffrey and Dalvin Cook were selected beforehand.
Cincinnati Bengals
Mixon signed a four-year contract for 5.45 million US dollars for the Bengals. Mixon made his NFL debut on Matchday 1 of the 2017 season against the Ravens . From week 9 of the 2018 season, Mixon started for the Bengals and replaced Jeremy Hill , who was canceled from week 9 due to an injury. But even before week 9, Mixon had had more snaps than Hill. Mixon ended the season with a total of 626 run yards and 4 touchdowns. Mixon made his breakthrough in the NFL in his second season in the NFL ( 2018 ). In 14 appearances during the regular season, Mixon had 1,168 yards and 8 touchdowns for his Bengals. In the following season ( 2019 ) Mixon was able to confirm its performance and again gained more than 1,000 yards of space. He was also able to achieve 8 touchdowns for his team, five through the run and three through pass catches. Whereby Mixon 2019 flourished especially in the second half of the season. He scored all of his five run touchdowns in week 11 or later and his four games of over 100 yards of space gained from week 10 of the season.
Problems with the law
Mixon is considered a controversial draft pick. This is not because of his playful performance, but because of an incident in 2014. Mixon slapped a student in the face in his first year of college, was suspended for the 2014 season and sentenced to 100 hours of community service.
