Joe Navarro

Joe Navarro (born May 26, 1953 in Cienfuegos , Cuba ) is an American former agent and agent leader who is now known as a body language specialist and author .

Life

Navarro came to the United States with his family at the age of eight after the failed Bay of Pigs invasion . He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Administration from Brigham Young University in Provo , Utah, and then a Masters of Arts degree in International Relations from Salve Regina University in Newport , Rhode Island .

Navarro then served the FBI for 25 years , first as an agent and then as an agent leader in the areas of counter-espionage and behavioral assessment. At the FBI he served, among other things, as commander of a special unit ( SWAT team) and was a founding member of the FBI program for behavior analysis.

Since Navarro left the FBI, Navarro has been writing books and lecturing on human behavior. He currently serves on the faculty at Saint Leo University in Florida . He has given several lectures at Harvard Business School , has been an advisor to the US Department of State since 2003 and a fellow at the Institute for Intergovernmental Research .
