Johann-Salomon Hegi (born October 9, 1814 in Zurich ; † December 11, 1896 there ) was a Swiss landscape and genre painter as well as draftsman and caricaturist .

Hegi studied from April 5, 1838 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich . In Munich he was friends with Gottfried Keller , who studied painting there from 1840 to 1842, but was not enrolled. Hegi spent the period from 1849 to 1860 in Mexico, mostly in Veracruz . There he created drawings and watercolors from everyday life in the Mexican province. After returning home, he worked in Zurich. I.a. In 1877 he illustrated Gottfried Keller's novella Der Landvogt von Greifensee from the cycle of Zurich novellas .
