The Oestreich organ in Pfordt

While his older brother Johann Georg Oestreich (1770-1858) stayed in Oberbimbach and founded the Oberbimbach branch of the family, Johann Adam moved to nearby Bachrain, now part of Künzell, and founded the Bachrain branch.

He mainly worked in the Fulda area , where he had voting contracts for a number of organs and also repaired numerous organs. Organs built by him were in the contemporary modern style of classicism and early romanticism . From 1825 to 1827 he was an organist and organ builder in the Corvey monastery , and during this time he rebuilt the organ in Corvey and also repaired organs in the Minden area . After the death of his father in 1833 he was in charge of the Fulda cathedral organs .

From him (largely) preserved organs are in the cath. Capuchin Church in Brakel (before 1803), in the Protestant parish church of Wehrda (1807), in the Protestant village church of Helmers (1811), in the Protestant parish church of St. Michael in Sondheim vor der Rhön (1819), and in the ev. village church in Pfordt (1849).
