Johann Andreas von Liebenberg (born November 29, 1627 in Vienna ; † September 10 (according to some sources September 9) 1683 ibid) was mayor of Vienna from 1680 .

From 1653 he was head of the city chancellery, from 1678–1680 city judge and from 1680 until his death mayor of Vienna. His family was ennobled as early as 1622 and was named Liebenberger von Liebenberg .

In 1679 he made great contributions in combating the plague .

During the second Turkish siege of Vienna , he supervised the preparations for the defense and the fortification work and organized the vigilante group. He died two days before the relief army's victory over Kara Mustafa on the Ruhr .

In 1865, Liebenberggasse in Vienna's Innere Stadt (1st district) was named after him. On September 12, 1890, a memorial in his honor was unveiled in front of the Mölker Bastei , opposite the University of Vienna . He is also immortalized in the anchor clock .
