Johann August Lehmann

Johann August Lehmann (born September 24, 1802 in Königsberg i. Pr. , † December 6, 1883 in Elbing ) was a German high school teacher .

Life

Lehmann's father was JF Lehmann, professor of philosophy at the Kgl. University and director of the Kneiphöfisches Gymnasium in Königsberg.

Johann August Lehmann attended the cathedral school and the Collegium Fridericianum . From 1820 to 1824 he studied philology and philosophy at the Albertus University in Königsberg . He was a member of the philological seminar under Christian August Lobeck for three and a half years and second teacher at the educational seminar under Johann Friedrich Herbart for two and a half years . For half a year he was an assistant teacher at the Friedrichskollegium. In December 1824 he became a full teacher at the high school next to St. Peter and Paul (Danzig) . From Michaelis 1825 at the Academic Gymnasium Danzig , he was also a teacher at the secondary school for a few years. As a senior teacher, he moved to the fourth professorial position in 1833. In June 1836 he was appointed director of the Kgl. Marienwerder high school appointed. In 1852 he received from Carl Friedrich (Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach) the golden civil medal on the state colored ribbon. He made a contribution to the Old Prussian Poets' Association, which published the East and West Prussian Muses Almanac from 1856–1859 . Retired at Easter 1865, he lived in Gdansk for a while .
