Johann Caspar von Boddien

Johann Caspar von Boddien , also Johann Kaspar v. B. (born June 14, 1772 in Danneborth ; † May 9, 1845 in Ludwigslust ) was a German officer and most recently a major general in Mecklenburg-Schwerin .

Life

Johann Caspar von Boddien was a son of August Gotthard Boddien (1732–1795) on Danneborth, who was raised to the nobility in 1787. He joined the Gluer infantry regiment as a secondary lieutenant in 1788 . In 1797 he was promoted to staff captain and in 1801 transferred as a major to the bodyguard on horseback. In 1808 Duke Friedrich Franz I appointed him commandant in Ludwigslust and ducal adjutant . From 1812 he also served as inspector of the rural gendarmerie . In 1813 he was promoted to colonel and in 1822 to major general and adjutant general. In 1840 he was appointed head of the gendarmerie. As adjutant to three dukes ( Friedrich Franz I , Paul Friedrich and Friedrich Franz II ), Boddien was a key figure at the court of Mecklenburg-Schwerin .

From 1819 to 1837 he was the owner of Gut Weisin near Passow (Mecklenburg) , where he stayed for a long time. In 1821 he was accepted into the Mecklenburg Knighthood.

Johann Caspar von Boddien was married to Henriette, b. von Dewitz (1772–1857), a daughter of the Mecklenburg-Strelitzschen Oberhofmarschall Bodo (Christoph) Balthasar von Dewitz (1734–1792) and his wife Auguste von Brauchitsch (1753–1820) and sister of Otto von Dewitz (politician) . The couple had nine children, including the Prussian officer and member of the Frankfurt National Assembly , Alfons von Boddien , the Mecklenburg-Strelitz court marshal Adolph von Boddien (1812–1885) and the chief forest master Gustav von Boddien (1814–1870), also known as a poet has been.
