Johann Christian Herchenhahn

Johann Christian Herchenhahn (born May 31, 1754 in Coburg , † April 23, 1795 in Vienna ) was a German lawyer , diplomat and historian .

Life

The son of the Coburg councilor Anton Herchenhahn studied at the University of Erfurt , where his brother-in-law Johann Georg Meusel was professor of history, and then from 1777 to 1779 in Jena . Then he went to Vienna and became tutor to the Reichshofrat Braun. In 1784 he briefly took over the editing of the "Wiener Realzeitung".

Herchenhahn began his diplomatic career in 1789 as Legation Councilor for Saxony-Meiningen and Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt . Herchenhahn was appointed Reichshofrat agent.

Since 1954, in Vienna's Leopoldau the Herchenhahn street named after him.
