Johann Christian Ravit
Johann Christian Ravit (born August 16, 1806 in Schleswig ; † September 9, 1868 there ) was a German university professor, politician and banker.
Life
Johann Christian Ravit was the son of the chamber councilor and monastery clerk Johann Anton Ravit in Preetz and his wife Dorothea. He attended the grammar school in Plön and until Michaelis 1826 the Katharineum in Lübeck . From the winter semester 1826/27 he studied law and political science in Kiel , Heidelberg and Jena . In 1831 he passed the state law examination in Schleswig and initially worked as a trainee at the royal rent chamber in Copenhagen in the Danish state services. He rose to the position of head of office and a real councilor. In 1842 he became a full professor of economics and statistics at Kiel University, where he was awarded the title of Dr. phil. hc was awarded. In 1845 he was also the administrator of the royal school book printing company in Kiel.
In January 1848 he was sent by the University of Kiel as a member of the Holstein Assembly of Estates . In the Schleswig-Holstein survey , this met together with the Schleswig Assembly of Estates as the United Assembly of Estates. In the elections for the constituent Schleswig-Holstein state assembly , Ravit was elected a member of the 23rd Holstein electoral district (Preetz).
He was director of the Altona-Kiel Railway .
After the end of the Schleswig-Holstein uprising , Ravit was dismissed from his offices by the Danish government in 1851. He moved to Hamburg and was there in 1854 the founder of the Hamburg-Bremer fire insurance company . In 1856 he became the first director of the Mitteldeutsche Creditbank in Meiningen . After a year he left the bank and set up another credit institute in Oldenburg . After the death of his wife Rasmine Catharine, née Antoni, he moved to Lübeck in 1861 .
