Johann Christoph Ernesti

Johann Christoph Ernesti (born January 11, 1662 in Keula / Schwarzburg, † August 11, 1722 in Bad Tennstedt ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Since January 11, 1682, Ernesti studied at the University of Wittenberg , obtained the degree of Magister on April 27, 1686 and was accepted as an adjunct at the Faculty of Philosophy on May 10, 1689 . After he had concentrated extensively on theological topics, he took over a pastoral office in 1691, first in Plaue and in 1692 in Groß and Kleinbrüchter .

In 1704 he took over the office of chief pastor and superintendent in Tennstedt and could, after the on February 20, 1710 licentiate had acquired theology, on 11 March 1710 to the doctor of theology at Wittenberg PhD. From his five sons, Johann Christian Ernesti , Johann August Ernesti and Johann Friedrich Christoph Ernesti also gained the reputation of respected scholars.
