Johann Christoph König (born November 14, 1783 in Wölfis ; † November 11, 1867 in Hanover ) was a German royal Hanoverian court and chamber musician , flautist and entrepreneur and one of the two namesake of the company JC König & Ebhardt .

Life

Born near Gotha at the end of the 18th century, Johann Christoph König married the widow Johanna Katharina Elisabeth Ebhardt , née Hase , in the Marktkirche in Hanover on June 29, 1813 - and thus became a co-owner of a cichory and mustard factory .

Around 1814 - the year Hanover was elevated to kingdom - Johann Christoph König became a flutist and a member of the Hanover court orchestra. He left the orchestra around 1817 with the title of royal court and chamber musician.

After his stepson Heinrich Ebhardt joined the company on March 8, 1832, the mustard and chicory factory was renamed JC König & Ebhardt , the factory building of which can still be found on Schlosswender Strasse in Hanover .
