Johann Christoph Ungefug
Johann Christoph Ungefug (born March 31, 1728 in Königsberg , Kingdom of Prussia , † February 11, 1775 in Lyck , Kingdom of Prussia) was a German organ builder in Prussian Lithuania .
Life
Johann Christoph Ungefug was born in Königsberg at the end of March 1728 as the son of the joiner Johann Ungefug. In 1740 he was mentioned as Jan Ungefugt in Wilna (Vilnius). From 1742 to 1750 he worked there for Gerhard Arend cell . In 1750 Ungefug received a Polish privilege as an organ builder.
In 1760 his place of residence was Maleczewen , where Matthäus Krajewsky had already worked as an organ builder eight years earlier. From 1762 Daniel Wroblewsky worked with him as an apprentice for seven years. In 1763 Johann Ungefug received an organ builder privilege for the area of Natangen in Prussian Lithuania . In 1765 he was listed in the citizens' list of the town of Lyck. The last organ buildings are known from 1774.
Johann Christoph Ungefug died in February 1775 a few weeks before the completion of his 47th year in Lyck from a "breast disease". Due to his activity as an organ builder, no costs were charged for his funeral.
List of works (selection)
14 new organs by Johann Christoph Ungefug are known; repairs were probably also carried out. Dispositions are not handed down, only a few register numbers. The works were mostly positive ones without a pedal , only one was known in Elk (Ełk).
The organ in Mikołajki (Nikolaiken) and the organ prospectuses in Grabnik (Grabnick) and Stare Juchy (Neu Jucha) have been preserved. In both cases, the central tower is lower than the two side towers, which is unusual for Prussia.
