Johann Christoph von Adlerflycht was born as the son of the lieutenant of the same name in Swedish and then Hesse-Kasselian services (1703–1729) and Sofia Henrietta Fredrika, born von Werkamp, ​​called Alt-Barckhausen († 1733). The father died the day before Johann Christoph was born. His grandparents were Christopher Björkman (1650-1720), who was named Adlerflycht in 1691 by the Swedish King Karl XI. has been ennobled , and his wife Sofia Magdalena nee von Günderrode (1661–1723). Adlerflycht married Susanna Maria née von Günderrode (1729–1796) on January 8, 1750 . The couple had 13 children, five of whom were daughters and two sons, one of whom was lawyer and Frankfurt Senator Justinian von Adlerflycht , who reached adulthood.

Career

On November 25th, 1745 Adlerfycht enrolled as "Johannes Christophorus from Adlerflycht Francofurtsensis" at the University of Marburg to pursue legal studies. During his stay in Marburg , he joined the Masonic lodge, Zu den drey Löwen , which had recently been founded there ; In 1752 he moved from this to their mother lodge Zur Einigkeit in Frankfurt.

After returning to Frankfurt and marrying a member of the Frankfurt patrician family Günderrode , to whom his paternal grandmother belonged, he was promoted to the urban patriciate when he was accepted into the noble inheritance of the Alten Limpurg family in 1755. He was councilor from 1766 and alderman from 1771 . In the electoral periods 1783/1784 and 1785/1786 he held the office of "Elder Mayor" and was thus twice mayor of the Free Imperial City of Frankfurt am Main.

The Adlerflychtplatz and Adlerflychtstrasse in the north end of Frankfurt are reminiscent of the Adlerflycht patrician family ; From 1876 to 1932 there was still the Adlerflychtschule, a higher secondary school with a preschool.
